a shaping up adventure

The Jingle Belles are Shaping Up for the New Year by making Christmas cards that are shapes.  I was a bit stuck for the first week, because of saying, to myself, "no, a circle is the easy way out, I need something more original".  Finally when I saw that C is for candy at the ABC Christmas Challenge I thought of candy canes.  It seemed too narrow as a shape for much of a sentiment though, and my second thought was to use the candy canes as decoration on a tree:
stamp set - Peaceful Pines (retired, on envelope); ink - Old Olive; Stampin' Write marker - Real Red; card stock - Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive; Big Shot with Stars framelits (retired), Christmas Staircase thinlits, Christmas Advent Calendar #1 Sizzlits decorative strip (retired)

I think that worked!  I'd like to make two cards for the Jingle Belles challenge, though, and all I've got left is that circle...

hehehehe... a circle is my default shape, too, i think this is the first time EVER i did something else for both weeks. (on the plus side... circle cards are ALWAYS cool!!!) meanwhile, you totally ROCKED the xmas tree shape and i love that you used your first idea of the candy canes as your secondary theme once you ruled them out as a shape! beautiful job, missus! thanks for getting in shape with us at JINGLE BELLES! ♥

A great idea to use the candy canes for decorating the tree, and they certainly stand out. Thank you for joining us at ABC Christmas Challenge. :) Lynda
