holly wreath adventures

For Card Buffet in October I wanted to have a third Christmas card option, but the first two cards were using almost all of the inks I own that are greens and reds.  Since I also wanted to use the new Peaceful Wreath and post it in the Watercooler Wednesday challenge - Anything Goes with Holly, I was stumped for awhile. Isn't it funny how we get "stuck" on ideas like holly must be green with red berries?  This is what happened when I got unstuck:
stamp set - Peaceful Wreath; ink - Tip Top Taupe; Stampin' Write marker - Chalk; card stock - Crumb Cake, Tip Top Taupe; trim - Tip Top Taupe 1"dotted lace
Oops - I think I missed dotting some of the berries - better get that marker back out...

Before I got unstuck, I copied (and now I'm sharing, so it's a CASE) Buffy's fabulous sample and put to use the leftover Tip Top Taupe window die cut:
stamp sets - Peaceful Wreath, Versatile Christmas; ink - Cherry Cobbler, Mellow Moss; Stampin' Write markers - Cherry Cobbler, Mellow Moss; card stock - Cherry Cobbler, Tip Top Taupe, Whisper White; designer series paper stack - Merry Moments; Big Shot with Wonderful Wreath and Hearth and Home thinlits and Brick Wall embossing folder
I cut the window frame from the Whisper White before embossing the panel with the brick wall.  In order to avoid having another leftover, I layered the Tip Top Taupe frame onto the white one and set them back into the cut out space in the wall, giving it a bit more depth over the "wallpaper" underneath.

Hi Kathe, I love both of your cards! I know exactly what you mean about sometimes getting stuck on what things "should" look like. But once you began thinking outside that box, your wonderful Tip Top Taupe holly wreath with white berries certainly made for an elegant card. I love the addition of your dotted lace bow and that simple sentiment in the centre of the wreath. Beautifully done. Thanks so much for joining our Watercooler Wednesday challenge this week.

Thanks Kathe for sharing your out of the box solution. I had to laugh. Before I read the text I thought you had silver or pewter embossed the image (my go to fix when inks don't work out). Never would have occurred to me to stamp with Tip Top Taupe for an elegant look. Love what you've done with it and love the white berries too.
Thanks for sharing both your cards and joining in the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.
