We were attending a graduation open house yesterday, for the only two graduates we know this year. We know them from completely different areas of our lives, but they know each other and had a combined party - isn't that unusual? It made our lives easier to only attend one party, though, so we thanked their mothers for being so considerate (hehe)! Oh, I'm a little off-topic here, but the point is, I found instructions in Card Maker magazine for this fancy-fold card, and I offered it as a Card Buffet option last month:
stamp sets - Big News, Perfect Pennants; ink - Basic Black; card stock - Whisper White, Real Red; punch - 1/2" circle
So, one little 1/2" circle punch isn't much, but it is a punch, right? And when Tom suggested that gift cards would be appropriate gifts, I added a holder to the inside:
stamp sets - Big News, Fabulous Four, Perfect Pennants; ink - Basic Black; card stock - Whisper White, Real Red; punch - 1/2" circle, 1" circle
Tic-tac-toe, straight down the right side, almost no decision-making involved. And, there were cake pops and traditional Indian (not Native American, real Indian) sweets - triple win for me!
Kathe, I love the story that comes with your card almost as much as your card. Love the unusual colour combination for the grad card. It's less formal looking than the more conventional black and white but still pops. With the gift card holder inside and that elegant design, I'm sure your cards were happily received. Thanks so much for joining our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge this week.
ReplyDeleteGreat gift card holder, Kathe! Thanks for joining us this week at Watercooler Wednesday Challenges. Marsha
ReplyDeleteVery cool gift card holder, Kathe! Every grad loves to receive money and gift cards - you just can't go wrong with those :) Thanks for joining the Watercooler Wednesday challenge this week. ~Deborah
ReplyDeleteA punch is a punch no matter the size. {grin} At least that's what I tell the 2 year old next door. His punches might not hurt as much as a grown up one...but they still count.
ReplyDeleteSuper take on the tic tac toe Miss Kathe. Love the colors and application to the theme. Thanks for sharing the story too. Amazing isn't it how coincidences can litter our lives.
Thanks for joining the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge this week. - Jean
Love this bold looking graduation card Kathe. Great choice of papers and design and it's a bonus to have the gift card holder inside. Its great you were able to attend the party and do a "two for one". Great story.
ReplyDeleteKathe, congratulations for getting the Honourable Mention badge for your wonderful grad chard.
