planning an adventure

I don't usually plan much, certainly not many of the cards I make.  If you know what's going to happen, it seems like less of an adventure, know what I mean?  The only plan I had this evening was to use more of my favorite Home for Christmas designer series paper.  Tuesday Morning Sketch #328 had spaces for at least two of the designs.  While laying them out and deciding on a base color, I thought I should mat the pieces. I remembered the challenge at Use Your Stuff this week is lots of layers, so I started planning - if I use a die cut for the sentiment, it will have no stamping and I can link it at Shopping Our Stash.  If I mat a background between the papers and the base, I can cut extra layers of the sentiment out of the largest matting piece:
card stock - Mossy Meadow; Very Vanilla, Real Red; designer series paper - Home for Christmas; Big Shot with Large Polka Dot embossing folder and Christmas Greetings thinlits
There is something to be said for planning a card, at least a little bit - I didn't have to take apart and reassemble anything, and I didn't use more paper than necessary to add dimension to the sentiment!

Like me, you back into cards. It's so exciting to see what happens, isn't it? But yes, there are times you do need to do a little planning, and this card turned out great! An excellent way to use up strips of patterned paper.

Thanks for joining us at Shopping Our Stash for our No Stamping challenge.

I am a "not a clue what this is going to become" designer as well! I just grab a piece of paper, or a die, and off I go! Sometimes, it all ends up in the trash, but most of the time, a fun project results. Love the results you have achieved here. Thanks so much for sharing this with us here at Shopping Our Stash!
