a bling-y scalloped sketch adventure

The idea process for this card was at least four times longer than the creation process.  I started by thinking, last week, that I really wanted to get a card put together for the Jingle Belles challenge this week.  They asked for "bling", so I thought I'd break out the shimmery striped or polka-dot papers that I hoarded from the retired Berry Bouquet designer series paper package.  I also found some scraps of glimmer paper, including a scalloped piece of the Champagne, but I didn't really like the way they looked together.  I set the idea aside.

I remembered that the lovely Less is More hostesses were looking for scallops, but I had no confidence that I could incorporate glimmer paper as part of a clean and simple card - I wasn't even sure I could keep scallops clean and simple.  I kept thinking about both of these challenges, off and on all week, and I really thought it would be sweet if I could use that one piece of scalloped glimmer paper for both cards, but it would definitely need a clean and simple sketch.  Well, finally I noticed the one I put on my challenge grid for Fab Friday, which included the perfect horizontal element for that scalloped piece!  From that point, I just had to find a sentiment and some designer series paper that would coordinate nicely with gold glitter - easy peasy:

stamp set - More Merry Messages; ink - Versamark; Stampin' Emboss powder - Gold; card stock - Champagne Glimmer, Brushed Gold, Cherry Cobbler; designer series paper - Deck the Halls; Big Shot with Large Scallop Edgelit
