masculine adventures

At another of my favorite challenge sites, Shopping Our Stash, they're reminding us that it's that time of year again, and they're looking for anything masculine or Father's Day cards.  I've made several Father's Day card; my favorite incorporates the bright colors of summer that SU-Only would like to see this week and is based on the sketch at Just Us Girls :
stamp set - Delightful Dozen; ink - Island Indigo; card stock - Whisper White, Tangerine Tango; designer series paper - Summer Smooches; Brights buttons, glue dots, Island Indigo baker's twine

I've been enjoying the Summer Smooches paper with its bright colors ever since I opened it.  I thought I was just a little tired of always going to neutrals for men's cards, so I adapted Dawn Olchefske's congratulations card, which I saw on Pinterest, for this card:
stamp set - Delightful Dozen; ink - Island Indigo; card stock - Daffodil Delight, Whisper White, Island Indigo; designer series paper - Summer Smooches; Big Shot with Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder; Stampin' Dimensionals

I showed it to  a friend, who said, "Kathe, you just like bright colors".  That may be the reason I also had to try this card, which I also found on Pinterest. The pin links to Julie Kettlewell's blog but not to the specific post, so I'm not able to link you to the original, unfortunately.  I didn't change much, though:

stamp sets - Pennant Parade, Delightful Dozen, Woodgrain; ink - Soft Suede, Garden Green, Basic Black Tempting Turquoise; card stock - Daffodil Delight, Brushed Silver, Basic Black, Whisper White, Certainly Celery, Crumb Cake, Garden Green, Tempting Turquoise; punch - Pennant Builder, Large Oval, 1-1/4" Circle; Big Shot with Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, stamping sponge

But more likely, I had to try that one because I love punch art and Tom loves golf.  He may not be playing next week though.  And, I had a great idea just this afternoon for another card using Just Us Girls sketch that I didn't get a chance to try.  The reason for those two disappointments would be our unfortunate adventure this evening at the emergency room, having Tom's index finger repaired after he removed a chunk by using it inadvertently as a propeller stop while testing a radio control plane engine.  Some adventures are just not as gratifying as others.
