Sunday sketch day adventures

I was pretty busy making cards during November, but I'm not sure how nearly the entire month got by me without more blog posts - whoosh! I was approximately three weeks behind reading blogs and didn't attempt any challenges in that time, either, so I made an effort today, and I started with Freshly Made Sketches 264:
stamp set - Hang Your Stocking; ink - Real Red; card stock - Whisper White, Real Red; designer series paper - Candy Cane Lane; Big Shot with Stitched Shapes, Layering Circles, and Layering Ovals framelits

I bought too much designer series paper, again (I can't stop myself, it's all wonderful!), so I've been concentrating on making cards in series to cut back on leftovers; this week it's been  Candy Cane Lane.  Originally I laid out this card on the dotted background, and used the scalloped layering circle framelits.  Then I noticed the unused white stitched oval sitting on my work space and realized it was perfect for the sentiment. so I had to remake the medallion to incorporate the stitching.  Since the circles were a bit smaller, the whole card seemed a little lackluster on the dots, so I set aside the base as well as the medallion (I should have checked the layout before gluing) and went looking for another sketch to put them to work.  I think this one from Fab Friday worked well:
stamp set - Santa's Sleigh; ink - Real Red; card stock - Whispering White, Real Red; designer series paper - Candy Cane Lane; Big Shto with Layering Circles framelits

I always buy too much DSP too! I always tell myself that I can use the leftover next year but then I go and buy current paper and they cycle never ends! I really like your 2 designs here! It's so smart to use the images from the DSP instead of always stamped images. The peppermint candy holding your sentiment banner on the second card is a great idea! Thanks for sharing at Fab Friday!

I think you have a great idea to make a card series in order to use up your paper. LOVE your take on our sketch!
