adventure with something old, something new

There is currently a joint challenge at Shopping Our Stash and Jingle Belles - how fun is that? - to use something from our stash that's at least one year old.  I can do that!  In fact, everything I used on this card is older than one year, and retired, except the ink and the smaller pieces of card stock:
stamp sets - Perfect Blend (retired), Warmth & Wonder (hostess, retired), Christmas Cheer (retired); ink - Archival Basic Black, Versamark; card stock - Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler, Baked Brown Sugar (retired); designer series paper - Season of Style (retired)
The sketch is new, too - I used Tuesday Morning Sketch #318 - but it would have been fun to use a sketch that was more than a year old, wouldn't it?  If I feel ambitious, I may try that.

Of course, that made me itchy to use something new, too, and Little Red Wagon is looking for just that - how convenient! - so this card is mostly new stamp sets & dies; only the ink and card stock are old ;)
stamp sets - Festive Fireplace, Hardwood; ink - Smoky Slate, Pear Pizzazz, Cherry Cobbler, Crushed Curry; card stock - Basic Gray, Smoky Slate, Crushed Curry, Cherry Cobbler, Pear Pizzazz; Big Shot with Hearth & Home, Festive Fireside and Star Collection framelits
I started out thinking this would be red and white plus one color but no green for  the just-expired challenge at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown.  Yellow was going to be my plus one - I wasn't counting gray, as a  neutral.  I tried the whole thing with a red sentiment on a white base, but I didn't like it.  A white sentiment didn't work for me, either.  With no white, it wasn't really going to work for the challenge, so I gave up and added the green wreath.  It works for the Anything Goes challenge at Christmas Card Challenges, though - yay!

ooooooooooooooh! i love BOTH of these, miss kathe! you have SO ROCKED the old and the new!!! (i kinda loooooooove that you "wrecked" the 2nd one-- in challenge terms, i mean-- b/c it NEEDED that wreath!) (& i'm notjust saying that b/c the story of my life is starting something specifically for one call & then letting it morph away; tho i do that. a lot.) perfection on all counts!!! thanks for shopping your stash with us at ♥JINGLE BELLES♥!!!
