a two card multiple challenge adventure

I recently figured out how Rudolph Day works at Stamping For Pleasure, so I really wanted to try playing along. Then several other challenges I follow seemed to mesh together nicely - Jingle Belles have asked for three or more layers, Pile it On wants to see ink-on-paper stamped images, and Holly Jolly Christmas is looking for embossing - both of these cards have all of that:

I immediately thought of snow when I saw the color challenge at 'Tis the Season:
stamp sets - Warmth & Wonder, Festive Flurry, Hardwood; ink - Baked Brown Sugar, Pool Party, Versamark, Whisper White Craft; Stampin' Emboss powder - Whisper White; card stock -  Baked Brown Sugar, Pool Party, Whisper White; Big Shot with Festive Flurry and Labels Collection Framelits; 1/4" stitched grosgrain ribbon - Whisper White; Stampin' Dimensionals

It took me a couple of days to decide what to do for a second card, but then Merry Monday suggested gingerbread men, and I've been wanting to put them on a baking sheet for at least a year.  I can't remember where I saw this idea, it's been so long, but it stuck with me!  I went looking for a sketch, and I thought the new one at Try Stampin' on Tuesday would work.  My proportions are pretty different, so it may not qualify, but I was *inspired* by their sketch:
stamp sets - Scentsational Season (retired), Very Merry Tags; ink - Riding Hood Red (retired), Versamark; Stampin' Emboss powder - Early Espresso; card stock - Very Vanilla, Brushed Silver, Riding Hood Red textured (retired), Early Espresso, Old Olive; designer series paper - Letters to Santa (retired); punch - 7/8" scallop circle, envelope punch board, Stampin' Trimmer with small scallop rotary blade

Edited to add (because I forgot but then I remembered) that I'll link these at Christmas Card Challenges, too, where anything goes this week!

Hi Kathe, just saw your 2 pretty cards over at Rudolph Day, and enjoyed them both. So nice to see you there, and it's a great way to build a Christmas Card stash. Loved the way you used the woodgrain background to show off this sparkley snowflake and the gingerbread men were just delicious! Looked for a place to join as a follower, but not seeing one. Thanks for sharing & hope you'll visit me too if you have time. Hugs

Kathe, looks like I need to catch up on my comments here. I commented for one blog challenge, but not the other. lol I love how you used the baked brown sugar for your background, and that background stamp is a fav of mine! Pretty neat how you embossed over it too with the snowflakes. Thanks for joining us at 'Tis the Season.
