a CASEd couple of color adventures

Deb made two of the cutest cards for our Watercooler Blog Hop, and I just couldn't resist combining them into one card.  I used the colors from The Color Throwdown:

stamp sets - Perfect Blend, World Map; ink - Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Smoky Slate, Tempting Turquoise; card stock - Daffodil Delight, Naturals White, Smoky Slate, Tempting Turquoise; accessories - Stampin' Dimensionals, Stampin' Sponges

The sentiment "Given enough coffee, I could rule the world, temporarily" just makes me chuckle when combined with the World Map background...

I saw this card by Penny Smiley and had to try it, too.  This time I used the colors from Pals Paper Arts:

stamp sets - Chalk Talk, Creative Elements; ink - Daffodil Delight, Smoky Slate, Strawberry Slush; card stock - Daffodil Delight, Smoky Slate, Strawberry Slush, Very Vanilla; punch - Mosaic; accessories - Big Shot with Chalk Talk framelits, Daffodil Delight 1/4" stitched grosgrain ribbon, In Color Boutique Details, Vintage Faceted Designer Buttons, Very Vintage Designer Buttons, glue dots, Stampin' Dimensionals, sponge dauber

Although I love the Create sentiment, I could never figure out when it would be appropriate on a card - until I realized that I'm a little short of Thank You notes for customers!

And, here's a bonus card I just wanted to share because I finally rescued the focal point from my stack of "misses".  I watched Connie Stewart's video several times trying to recreate her beautiful card, but I just couldn't get the misted watercolor background subtle enough.  My second attempt was acceptable, I thought, and I used it to almost exactly recreate her masculine version.  My first attempt was just languishing until two of my Card Buffet customers exclaimed over how much they liked it.  So I thought I'd send it to one of them as a Thank You with her order, but it needed to be assembled. I was inspired by receiving my first package of Tea Lace Paper Doilies (I don't know why I waited so long to order them!):
stamp sets - Banner Greetings (hostess), Postage Due; ink - Basic Gray, Pool Party, So Saffron, Wisteria Wonder; card stock - Pool Party,So Saffron, Very Vanilla, Wisteria Wonder; accessories - Big Shot with Fancy Fan embossing folder, 1/4" stitched grosgrain ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals, glue dots

(edited 8/4 to add link to Connie's flash card video - can't believe I forgot that!)
