adventure of convergence

I spent the early part of my evening browsing Pinterest and then spent a good bit of time working on a new project, an art journal.  When it finally occurred to me that I was running out of time to make and post a challenge card, I looked over the sketches on my weekly grid and studied the Paper Players' Tic Tac Toe prompt.  I read the horizontal rows, the vertical rows, and finally the diagonal rows.  Several seemed promising, but the last one I read (Floral - Dry Embossing - Favourite Color) pinged in my brain to this card that I had seen earlier on Pinterest*, so I hurried around and made this:
stamp set - Itty Bitty Banners; ink - Concord Crush (retired) card stock - Concord Crush (retired), Vellum, Whisper White; designer series paper - Concord Crush (retired);  Big Shot with Elegant Bouquet Textured Impressions™ embossing folder, Labels Collection Framelits™, Bitty Banners Framelit™ and Beautiful Wings Embosslit™; Dazzling Details, Stampin' Dimensionals

It's ♥purple♥, floral, and dry embossed (just like Margaret's)!  I used a different sentiment, a different shade of purple, and different paper, but those are truly minor changes.  In retrospect, the hurrying around may not have been a good choice, as I had to do just about every element of the card twice.  The butterfly may be the only one-shot item on there.  And you can see that the Dazzling Details are not even dry in the photo.  For once, though, I have NOT smeared any of it!  I'm pretty pleased with the way my Pinterest and challenge habits converged.

And there was convergence in the art journal project, as well.  If you're just here for the card, feel free to skip this bit, but I thought it was special.  Lauren, one of my blogging/card making/artistic heroines, has been posting her ICAD project and mentioned Daisy Yellow's new Daily Paper Prompt, so I thought I could put another page in the meager art journal I started last year.  (It now has four pages - twice as many as it had yesterday!)  Tammy's prompt for August 1 was "paint a rainbow" which I took literally:
stamp set - Up, Up, and Away; ink - Not Quite Navy, Baja Breeze; Stampin' Write markers - Concord Crush (retired), Pacific Point; Aqua Painter, unknown wire-bound water color paper, acrylic paints and bristle brush

After I pleased myself by mixing the secondary colors myself and bravely using my Aqua Painter for the background, I decided that it needed a quote. I typed "rainbow quotes" in my search engine, and browsed for a while.  I mentioned that this project took a good bit of time, didn't I?  Before I got there, I noticed a mention on Facebook of the Rainbow Bridge (a friend of mine lost her beloved pet today). I considered using that aspect, but when I came across this quote, I knew it was the right one.  The Wizard of Oz was one of my mother's favorite movies, and still is one of my favorites.  Haven't we all wanted to be over the rainbow at least once?

*I corrected the link, and you're welcome. ♥  I'm sure YOU know how to pin to a post, not an entire blog, but there seem to be many pinners out there who don't.  Just sayin'.

I love your rainbow and the quote from Judy Garland. I love that song and I once made a playlist of about 30 different versions of it.

EnJOY!!
