adventure with something old, something new

It's a new year at Jingle Belles, where the old problem of too much to do in December can still be alleviated by making Christmas cards January through November, starting with something old and something new.

When my (30-something!) daughter was in preschool, we used to make cookies and candies as gifts, and I found some festive doilies to dress up the paper plates.  I've saved them since then in my paper-crafty stash, but it never seemed right to use them.  Maybe I was thinking I'd make edible gifts again (hahaha - sometimes I crack me up).  The prompt at Shopping Our Stash to use something precious/hoarded coincided nicely with the Jingle Belles prompt, so this came together:
stamp set - Christmas Bliss; ink - Real Red; card stock - Whisper White, Cucumber Crush, Silver Foil, Real Red; baker's twine - Silver; metallic foil doilies; Big Shot with Confetti textured impressions embossing folder

Besides the old doily, I also used an old (but only one year old) stamp set - it's still available, but it's not in our catalog, and easily overlooked.  The new items are the little silver foil doily and the embossing folder.  The embossing folder isn't even available to purchase until next week, but I was able to order it early as a demonstrator.  The silver foil doily is available from the annual catalog; I didn't think I needed them until I started thinking about Valentine projects.

I was totally inspired by this card by Mercedes Weber which is still actively making the rounds on Pitnerest two years later.

You have made me feel so good! I have doilies that I have been hoarding since 2005 and I thought 10 years was a long time! :D) I will probably have them for another ten because I rarely use doilies, but you have created a wonderful presentation with the Holly! A very pretty way to deplete your stash! Thanks, so much, for accepting the challenge this week at Shopping Our Stash!

Who doesn't hoard doilies?? I have a drawer full and have been known to take them off plates at restaurants before people muck them up! LOL
Love your festive doilies! And I giggled at your comment on maybe making more edible goodies in the future, ahhhhhh the good (unrealistic) intentions!
Thanks for playing along with the SHOPPING OUR STASH crew for our "My Precious" challenge!!
