pink Christmas adventure

By now, all (five? three?) of my regular readers know I intensely dislike pink, but it does have its place – October, as Breast Cancer Awareness month, for example.  Pink Christmas is an October tradition at Jingle Belles, and since the Belles' was my first challenge, and is still one of my favorites, I’m more than willing to play along, even with pink.  This year, I thought it would be fun to add pink to all my Christmas challenge cards in the month of October.  It turns out that isn’t going to work for the challenges that request specific colors other than pink, but it worked fine with the moose challenge at Merry Monday.   After I located my only moose image, a digital one from the retired Meljen’s Designs studio, I eased into “pink” with just cheeks and inner ears:
stamp set - And Many More; ink - Memento Tuxedo Black, Blushing Bride, Island Indigo, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Crushed Curry, Real Red, Cucumber Crush; Stampin' Write marker - Cucumber Crush; card stock - Watercolor paper, Real Red, Cucumber Crush; 3/8" stitched satin ribbon - Gumball Green (retired); punches - Envelope punch board, Word Window
I originally colored his scarf pink and light blue, but that seemed “off”; fortunately you can hide pink under red and light blue under green.  :)  I especially like the Crystal Effects on the lights, making them shiny. I wasn't sure what to do with him after he was done, but Leslie's Crooked Stamper Sketch #9 worked perfectly.
I’ve been wondering – other than the amusingly punny “Merry Chrismoose,” how did moose become a Christmas icon?  Maybe, like penguins, because they belong to the cold & snowy north?  Oh, wait, penguins are from the cold & snowy south – now I’m really confused…
Since I don't think I can link all my cards separately unless they're in separate posts, I'll be right back with a second installment.

Yay! Another not-a-fan-of-pink! I think all the October EVERYTHING IS PINK pushed me over the edge. I can support breast cancer research without something being pink. /endrant

I've seen quite a few moose cards this week. Might be time for me to pull out my own and play along. :) And yeah, they must be cold-weather critters, though when I was in Maine many years ago, it was in the 90s, which may be why we didn't see any moose.

Thanks for playing my challenge!!

I too have had a hard time embracing pink - you won't find it anywhere in my house or on my clothing (except for my anti-bullying shirt and a breast cancer awareness shirt) BUT I am learning to embrace it and use it more. It does grow on you (when used in small doses (hahahaha). Now for your card - I LOVE it! Those lights all twisted up in the antlers is adorable - you can just imagine the mess that moose made! Great card!
