adventures with Christmas bits and pieces

Among the extra bits and pieces stacked on top of the box o' bits and pieces was the "jolly" from my unsuccessful attempt at inlaid die cutting - it made more sense to put it on a card than to put it in the box, especially since the prompt this week at Christmas Card Challenges is anything goes:
stamp set - Holly Jolly Greetings; ink - Cherry Cobbler; Stampin' Chalk marker; card stock - Sahara Sand, Cherry Cobbler, textured Always Artichoke (retired); designer series paper - Festival of Prints (retired); Big Shot with Christmas Greetings thinlits and Sizzix® Christmas Set #6 sizzlits
Then I remembered that one of my customers was looking for ideas for the Christmas Greetings thinlits, so I made a winter greeting for her and for Jingle Belles, where the prompt is to make a card for your friends or family who don't necessarily celebrate Christmas:
stamp set - Holly Jolly greetings; ink - Soft Sky, Versamark; Stampin' Emboss powder - Iridescent Ice; card stock - Whisper White, Soft Sky; Big Shot with Christmas Greetings thinlits
I didn't decide to add the star/snow stamp to the background until everything else was done, and I wish I'd done it first and covered the entire background (I may remember that next time, if there is a next time) or left it off entirely.  On the other hand, I really like how the "peace" came out.  I cut it from Soft Sky card stock and sponged it with matching ink it but it wasn't really dark enough, so I smooshed it into the Versamark pad using my tweezers, then covered it with Iridescent Ice embossing powder and heated it up - perfect!  Best of all, I thought of that before I glued it!

i'm laughing at the last sentence... a "retro-fit" of extra coloring and embossing the sentiment ON THE CARD would be the sort of "adventure" (or mishap, lol) that i sometimes attempt with hilarious (unless you're me!) results! for the record i love BOTH of these, but i do especially love how the "peace" came out! thanks for joining the cardmaking fun with us at JINGLE BELLES! ♥
