another White Christmas challenge adventure

I have a big box o' new, wonderful Stampin' toys tools(!) but I forced myself to leave that box closed until this card was finished and shared with you, because I'm just that responsible!  OK, maybe it's really because this card has been bouncing around in my head since Saturday and I finally resolved all the little "what-abouts" and "whiches" (what about a star? a bird? which texture?):
stamp sets - More Merry Messages, Punch Potpourri (hostess, retired); ink - Illuminate, Versamark; Stampin' emboss powder - Gold, Iridescent Ice; card stock - Shimmery White, Whisper White; punch - Bird Builder; Big Shot with Petals-a-Plenty embossing folder; Stampin' Dimensionals

It started on Saturday when Less is More announced the White Christmas colour challenge and 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown posted a sketch challenge.  You may remember that recently I was working with a sort-of similar sketch and the idea of an all-white card (well, it started as all-neutral but morphed).  This card wasn't really too much of a stretch from that one, but you know I couldn't do the same thing again.  And I really wanted to at least try the gold, even though the shimmer stuff in Shimmery White card stock looks silver to me...

For a while I thought I would use more than one texture on the squares, so yesterday's Shopping Our Stash embossing times two challenge was a done deal (the embossed sentiment was already a firm decision).  I was also having trouble deciding on the center element, what to use and how to make it stand out without losing the clean and simple effect.  The Christmas bird prompt at Merry Monday got final approval over the star prompt at Festive Friday and I decided the dimensionals were going to suffice to give it separation.  As I was working this evening I finally realized that I could emboss the bird as well, and while I was having aha! moments, I thought of applying Illuminate ink direct-to-paper on the embossed squares.   Lots of visual interest on a clean and simple, all-white card - just what I wanted!

Now if you'll excuse me, there's this big box behind me that really needs some loving attention...
