unofficial summer adventures

I've been really annoyed this year by the number of radio and print advertisements heralding Memorial Day weekend as the "official" start of summer.  It should be "unofficial", since "official" would be the Solstice.  Of course, that also happens to be my birthday, so that may be contributing to why I'm so annoyed.  But spring has its own beauty and awesomeness, why cut it short?

On the other hand, we have had some spectacular summer-like weather here already this year, and I wasn't the slightest bit annoyed that The Paper Players offered a summertime Theme challenge or that The Play Date Cafe offered up this scrumptious summery palette:
After all, we do want to prepare for and enjoy everything summer has to offer!  So I used this week's sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and made this summery card :

stamp sets - Creative Elements, Fabulous Phrases;  ink - Versamark, Calypso Coral; card stock - Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral, Blush Blossom (retired), Sahara Sand; Big Shot with Tasteful Trim Bigz XL die, and Designer Frames and Elegant Lines embossing folders; Daffodil Delight 1/2" seam binding ribbon, 3/8" designer printed brad

One of the many awesome ways we celebrate late spring here is the annual Fly-In Pancake Breakfast fundraiser for the Branch County Flying Club's General Aviation Scholarship, held the first Sunday in June for sixty-six years!  We saw this plane there yesterday morning:

There were several other intriguing models, and it was a perfect day for a walk along the runways!

That fancy Creative Elements stamp works wonderfully with the Elegant Lines EF!

Thanks for playing with us at The Play Date Cafe this week.

I was distracted by the cool plane picture at first (how much fun!) but this card is just fantastic! Love the little bow! Glad you joined us this week at Freshly Made Sketches!
