frugal adventures

I hate to throw away even the tiniest scraps of Glimmer Paper, it seems more precious since there are only two sheets per package.  The Less is More divas (I think that's the right term?) have declared the recipe this week to be a Bit of Bling.  "Bling", as I've said before, is another of those terms that I'm not fully comfortable about my understanding - rhinestones, sure, but what about metallic card stock or embossing? pearls? glitter?  is it simply a synonym for sparkle?  That's what works best for my purposes, this week, as I wanted to play again with those scraps of Glimmer Paper and Lesley's new sketch for Freshly Made Sketches:
stamp set - Teeny Tiny Wishes; ink - Versamark with Silver Stampin' Emboss powder; card stock - Not Quite Navy, Baja Breeze textured, Red Glimmer, Silver Glimmer; punch - Blossom Bouquet triple layer

The blue background reminded me that there's a stunning combination over at ColourQ this week.  I've been thinking about snowflakes ever since I saw it, but it's possible that I have enough Christmas cards made for this year, so I thought I'd start on Thank You cards.  I found a scrap of Bashful Blue just the right size to work with Challenge # 74 at The Paper Players (another of Lesley's!) and a piece of Marina Mist that I had started to border punch but didn't use, so this card evolved from there:
stamp set - Thank You Kindly; ink - Sahara Sand, Marina Mist; card stock - Whisper White, Marina Mist, Bashful Blue, Night of Navy; designer series paper - Paisley Petals; punches - Extra-Large Oval, Lace Ribbon Border; Big Shot with Perfect Penants die; Stamping Sponge

I'm having trouble deciding whether the inner liner will be Whisper White or Bashful Blue - I think I'll wait until I have a piece of one of them leftover from another project.

Both are gorgeous! I think "bling" is whatever you want it to mean....maybe it started as rhinestones but I think that pretty sparkly paper is as blingy as one can get! Thanks for playing with the Paper Players this week!

Really cute presents on your lovely Xmas card. For me 'bling' encompassess all the things that you say - I choose which one to use depending on what sort of card I want or, even, what mood I'm in. Karen x

Both of your cards are so pretty, Kathe! I completely agree with you about the glimmer paper. I won't waste even the smallest piece. Lol! I really like all of the scalloped edges on the second card, especially with the rich color combo. Very pretty! Thanks for joining us this week at the Paper Players! :)
