adventures in scrapbooking

Seriously, I had no idea it had been nearly a month since I'd been here - wow (and sorry) - either this has truly been one of my busiest summers ever, or I'm just too old to keep up any more.  I know what my story is, and I'm stickin' to it!

When I joined Stampin' Up! as a demonstrator three years ago and told my friends, they told me I wouldn't be their friend if I turned into one of those crazy scrapbookers.  They already knew I was crazy, I just wasn't supposed to start scrapbooking.  When Nisha assigned a 6x6 scrapbook page as a team shoebox swap, earlier this year, I had a dilemma.  Here is how I solved it:
I scrapbooked my friends!  I thought they might forgive me if they were the "stars".  I used Crumb Cake, Not Quite Navy, and Daffodil Delight card stock, Daffodil Delight and Not Quite Navy classic inks, the Vintage Vogue stamp set, the Decorative Label punch and my Big Shot with the Top Note die.

So then I had these 6x6 pages made by the other team members.  I just added a photo to this one - that's not really scrapbooking, is it?
There was one made with some retired designer series paper that had a cute piece of (retired) ribbon and the Wonderful Mother sentiment, which I'm pretty sure is also retired, but which I can't seem to remember or find.  I thought it really needed these pictures of Heather & Trent, but I couldn't get them to fit the page or the colors.  So I fired up my trusty heat tool, took the page apart, and started over.  This is what happened:
I LOVE it - but it's possible I'm a teensy bit prejudiced.  Although the paper and sentiment are retired, the mats are all current Brights colors - Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Tempting Turquoise.  The bow was in my stash; I rescued it from something unremembered and probably unremarkable...

I thought I better get back to card making before my friends catch me, so I made this for the Shopping Our Stash challenge 11: Vellum-Violets-Violins

The paper is retired, from the Newsprint series.  I was "shopping" in my stash of hoarded designer series papers, but you could easily replace it by using the Music Notes Stampin' Around wheel on the lower layer, which is Very Vanilla card stock.  The upper layer (raised on Stampin' Dimensionals) is Basic Black card stock, and the sentiment from Upsy Daisy is stamped in Basic Black.  The top layer has been punched with the Decorative Label and circle punches in 3/4", 1", 1-1/4", and 1-3/8".  I CASEd this card of Lisa Young's, and I liked hers so well, I may do it again and use her uncaged bird, too!
